my master’s in counseling
I started college in 2005 as a counseling major and promptly decided I did not want to sit around listening to people talk all day. So naturally, I tried just about everything else first—business (accounting: awful), radio, television and film, and a few entrepreneurial detours. None of it really filled my cup.
Eight years after finishing my undergrad, I went back for my master’s in counseling—this time with a little more life behind me and a much better understanding of people, including myself. Turns out, listening to people talk all day is exactly what I’m supposed to be doing.
how I work
I’m eclectic on purpose. Person-centered when you need to be heard. CBT and REBT when we’re untangling a thought or challenging the story you’ve been telling yourself. Mindfulness when your body needs some help catching up. EMDR when the past keeps showing up in the present.
when you need to be heard.
when we’re untangling a thought or challenging the story you’ve been telling yourself.
when your body needs some help catching up.
when the past keeps showing up in the present.

I remember things. I’ll notice your patterns. I’ll probably remember what you told me three months ago, even if you don’t. And yes, I will remember the homework we talked about last session. But if you didn’t do it, I’m not going to be mad, disappointed, or give you a lecture. We’ll figure out what got in the way, adjust if we need to, and try again.
I’ll challenge you when you need it, encourage you when things feel impossible, and help you stay accountable to the person you’re trying to become. I’m not interested in expecting perfection from you, perfection does not exist - we are human! I’m much more interested in helping you keep moving forward and learning as you go.
outside the therapy room

Outside of the therapy room, I was born and raised in Houston, Texas—and am currently attempting to never go back there. I did not have a good hair day for 18 years - until I moved out of Houston! I met my husband in 2016 when we started out as roommates, which apparently worked out pretty well because we got married in 2020 (what a year to get married, huh!). Our wedding went from a large one to 8 people in our back yard, which turned out to be much preferred! We had our first and only child, our son, in 2022.
I love traveling, scuba diving, binge-watching an entire TV series instead of watching it like a reasonable person, and spending time with my husband and son. We also have two cats who are very confident that my virtual sessions are actually scheduled around their availability. There’s a good chance you’ll meet one—or both—of these attention-seeking ladies during a session.
what I believe
I also know what it’s like to work toward something for a very long time. I’ve been on what feels like a lifelong weight-loss journey and have lost almost 100 pounds—with more still to go. It has taught me a lot about starting over, getting frustrated, making progress, losing momentum, and deciding to keep going anyway.
That’s a lot of what I believe about therapy, too. You don’t have to do everything perfectly (remember, it does not exist). You don’t have to get it right the first time. Sometimes the work is simply recognizing what happened, learning something from it, and trying again.

I’ll be one of your biggest cheerleaders—but I’ll also be the person who lovingly points out when you’re doing that thing you told me you wanted to stop doing.
